Life on Inle Lake, Myanmar

Bagan, Myanmar - place for thousands of ancient temples and pagodas/stupas
Wikipedia: From the 9th to 13th centuries, Bagan was the capital of the Kingdom of Pagan,
the first kingdom to unify the regions that would later constitute modern Myanmar.
During the kingdom's height between the 11th and 13th centuries, over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas and monasteries
were constructed in the Bagan plains alone, of which the remains of over 2200 temples and pagodas still survive to the present day.

This is a view I hoped to get but all balloon rides were cancelled the day I was to go up

"The lower stupa is plated with 8688 solid gold bars; the upper part with another 13,153.
The tip is set with 5448 diamonds, 2317 rubies, sapphires and other gems, 1065 golden bells and,
at the very top, a single 76-carat diamond." (from www.shwedagonpagoda.com)
