Residence of the current King, Rama IX, who has been on the throne since 1946
(born Bhumibol Adulyadej in Cambridge Massachusetts, he was 19 when his 21 year old brother Rama VIII died
- who was 9 when he became king - of a gunshot under mysterious circumstances).
